Favorite K-Pop Songs of the Year: 2014

Hellooooo everyone! I’m back! ❤

You might be thinking, “Wait… who’s this?” and to that, I say “It’s Time to K-Pop!” Haha… stupid jokes aside, I really (sincerely) missed talking to you guys and posting on the blog, especially considering all that has happened in the K-pop industry recently. Yup, I’m talking about the good, the bad, and the ugly. :S It’s already been 9 months (!!!!!) since I’ve posted, and before anything else, I’d like to explain why I’ve been away for so long. First off, I’m so so so sorry for my absence. 😦 I’ve been really busy with school and college applications, and it was a bit overwhelming for me… I could go into more depth (and rant) about this, but I’ll save it because we have other, more interesting things to talk about! 😀

Anyways, I’m back, and we’re already almost halfway done with 2015! 😮 I hope the new year has been great for everyone, and that you guys achieve whatever goal you have in mind! 🙂

Enough with all that rambling though! A looot has happened in k-pop, whether that be good or bad and now that 2014 is over (since quite a while ago), I want to celebrate all the songs I felt were my favorites in this past year. I think this list is going to be a bit long (and this post is already long), so let’s get started! The songs are in no particular order. 🙂

Screen shot 2015-05-13 at 7.46.44 PM

Overdose – Exo: A lot has happened to Exo this past year (I’m sure you guys know what I’m talking about) but I think this powerful, yet catchy song is definitely one to recognize for 2014, and for Exo. Check out the video for the awesome dance routine as well as well. 🙂

Eyes, Nose, Lips – Taeyang: I’ve written about this song already in previous posts, but to summarize what I said: I love this song. I listened to it a lot when it first came out, and I kept it on repeat for a looong time. Such a nice song! Definitely one of the highlights of k-pop in 2014, so check it out if you haven’t already!

200% – Akdong Musician: In my opinion, Akmu was one of the best rookies of 2014 and their album Play is fantastic. The album is amazing, and it has many great songs in it. This super talented group deserves to be recognized for its talent!

Lonely – B1A4: (Almost) every time B1A4 releases a song, I am singing along to it in a few days. Their songs are so catchy, and this song is definitely one of those catchy songs as well! Another song that I listen to on repeat. 🙂

Her – Block B: This song was AWESOME. So catchy, fun, and unique. I just realized that I never published the “Talking about” I did on this music video… Woops :p That really sucks haha, but I basically mentioned how much of an awesome song it was, and how much I was in love with it. :p Her is not only one of my favorites for 2014, but also of Block B’s songs!

Some – Soyou & Jung Gi Go: The song that defined the year of 2014 in terms of kpop… Haha okay, this is a bit of an exaggeration (I’ll admit) but I feel like this sweet, catchy song became very popular in Korea. If you weren’t too crazy about k-pop last year (and missed out on this song), listening to Some is a must!

Come Back Home – 2NE1: Don’t let the quirkiness of the video scare you! This song is fantastic! 2NE1 has very strong vocals and it is definitely showcased in this song. It’s a super interesting mix of a lot of different styles, which combine into a very catchy song. 😀

1004 – B.A.P: Hehe, if you’ve read a few of my previous posts, you’ll know that I have a soft side for B.A.P. :’) My obsession aside, though, I think 1004 is an awesome song! It’s really cool and it packs a powerful performance. Great song from a talented group! P.S. Is anyone else really sad about B.A.P’s lawsuit? 😥

Good Luck – Beast: This song is awesome! It’s really catchy, and it brings back memories of the days when I was crazy about Beast haha :’) Super interesting sound! It’s a good place to start if you’ve never heard of any Beast songs.

Go Crazy – 2PM: What to say… other than GO CRAZY! This might be one of the catchiest, most fun songs on this list. Not only is the dance really fun, the song itself makes me want to dance. This is the song for you if you want a fun, upbeat dance song! I strongly recommend that you watch a performance video of it, because the dance adds to the fun of the song. 🙂

A – GOT7: GOT7 is also one of my favorite rookies (and groups in general) of 2014! They are a fun, talented group that has awesome songs. 🙂 So groovy and fun! This song is a must-press-repeat-after-listening-to-the-first-time type of song, because it is just that catchy and cute. 🙂 Stop stop it is really cool too, but I personally prefer A!

Angel – Yoon Mi Rae: This song probably isn’t as well-known as the other songs on this list (and you might not consider it k-pop) but it is too good not to include. Rather simple and a bit repetitive, but it’s so sweet and awesome! 🙂 It’s not like Yoon Mi Rae’s usual style, but it is still just as awesome!

Hold Me Tight – Loco: Again, another song that isn’t really k-pop (hehe). Regardless, this song is awesome! It shows how awesome Loco’s vocals are, and is a definite must. Its hip-hop feel might not be your thing, but for me, it’s totally what I love!

It’s You – Neon Bunny: Not k-pop, but still awesome! Neon Bunny has a very interesting sound that shines through in this song. Might not be your cup of tea, but still give it a try! 🙂 I highly suggest that you try other Neon Bunny songs if you enjoyed this one as well.

Chisa Bounce – M.I.B: I have no idea why I love this song so much.. But I do! 😀 It’s not as popular as the other songs on this list, but it’s just as awesome. Something about its unconventional sound, which still accomplishes catchiness, deserves a spot on this list. The chorus is awesome!

That’s it for this post friends! 🙂 I’m so sorry for the delay again (9 months is a looong time) but I promise I will start posting more frequently now. I’ve been itching to talk to you guys about k-pop these days haha. There have been a lot of awesome songs in 2015 already, and now I need to catch up. 🙂 This list is not complete (at all) and I’ll add to it if I remember anything. These are the only ones that I can remember right now. 🙂 What do you think about my list? Were your favorites here? Let me know what songs I missed in the comments! I’d love to find out what other songs you have in mind. 🙂 Thank you for being patient!

Haven’t said this in forever, but hugs from your fellow K-Popper! ❤

K-Pop Group of the Day: Beast

Hello everyone! 🙂

Since I haven’t published posts from other segments, I’ve decided to make up for the lack of those posts by doing one today! 😀 The group I’ll be focusing on is Beast! I personally have been a fan of Beast for quite a long time, and although I guess I could still be considered one, I’m definitely not as obsessed with them as I was around 2011 or so (I believe that’s the year of my crazy fangirling haha :P). Either way, in homage of their success with Good Luck, let’s get to talking about the group!

Favorite member? If you asked me this a few years ago (when I was obsessed with them), I would’ve answered Kikwang without hesitation. Now (that I’m not so obsessed with them), I’d probably have to say that I don’t have a solid favorite out of the group, but if I had to choose one I’d probably choose Yoseob because of his amazing singing. 🙂

Favorite song? Beast has so many awesome songs. Really. In fact, Good Luck is great too! 😀 Out of all their songs though, my favorite would have to be, hands down, Beautiful. It’s my favorite because this super catchy song made me become a fan of Beast, and with performances from it, I familiarized myself with the group. You definitely should listen to it if you haven’t already! It’s a different style (definitely) from Good Luck, which you might not be used to, but it’s nonetheless my favorite until now.

One interesting detail/story about the group? I’d like to note that I’ve slightly broadened this question (which used to ask about one thing that sets the group apart) because I felt like I wanted a question in which I could expand on stories or details (as the question says haha) about that particular group, whether it be something I’ve experienced or I’ve seen online in a performance, concert, etc.! 🙂 So yeah, to answer this new question… Other than their amazing performances, I would have to say that an interesting story about the group is the concert I went to when they were in my area! I believe it was around 2011, if I’m not mistaken, so it was a little while back. Their performance was amaaazing, but Kikwang (who was my favorite member at the time) was injured, so he couldn’t really perform 😦 He just sat in a chair instead haha! It was actually a United Cube…Concert? Something like that haha so 4minute, G.NA, and Beast came (because at that time, the other groups hadn’t debuted yet… I believe? I don’t know, I have a terrible memory :P). They were all really great and it was a good experience 🙂 especially because I was so close to the stage and the members hehe. It was sweaty and there was a lot of pushing, but I guess it was worth it since I was such a big fan of them at that time hehe. :3

Overall opinion? I really like this group! I would say that my loss of “interest” (for lack of a better word) in the group from when I was a hardcore fan (b2uty lol if you will) to now is not because of a decline in the quality of their music, but rather a personal change, in which I basically stopped keeping up with groups as much as I did before (which is true about MBLAQ as well if you see my other post. I became a fan of MBLAQ after I had lost interest in Beast :3). Nonetheless, their music is great and I’m happy as long as they release awesome songs as they have until now. 😀

What do you guys think about Beast? Make sure to check out my Talking about on both Good Luck and No More! 🙂 I’d love to see your comments answering these questions about Beast too! Thanks so much to everyone who has been reading and checking out my blog! ❤

Songs of the Month: June

Hey everyone! 🙂

June is finally over and that calls for a Songs of the Month post! I know I haven’t been super active on my blog in terms of posting this month (and I apologize for that 😦 ) but I do appreciate everyone who checks out my blog (Thank you so much! <3). June has been quite an interesting month, in terms of news and events (which is true for K-pop as well). With many awesome comebacks and a struggle to keep up with them on my part :P, this month definitely has some awesome songs to mention! Remember that you are always welcome to comment what songs you discovered this month that you really liked. 😀 Let’s share hehe! Without further ado, let’s get to the list!

Eyes, Nose, Lips – Taeyang: If you guys saw my Talking about post on this song, you guys would know how much I love it. Well… since that post, I’ve come to love the song even more, to the point that I’m actually obsessed with it. I’ve listened to it nonstop on replay for so long now! I’ve even gotten my family to listen to with me (oops hehe they like it too by the way :D) Hands down the top, if not one of the top songs, of this month for me! 🙂

Eyes, Nose, Lips (Cover) – Tablo: Going back to the song I just mentioned, I thought Tablo’s cover of Eyes, Nose, Lips also deserved a spot in this list. Although it is indeed a cover of the original song, this version felt like a song itself, and was remarkable enough that I felt the need to mention it here. What impressed me the most was surely Tablo’s rapping skills, but his sophisticated lyrics were definitely noteworthy as well. I loved it!

Shady Lady – B.A.P: Have I mentioned this song in another Songs of the Month? If the answer is yes, then I’ll put it again here! 😀 If not, I guess I forgot because this is a great song. The album (First Sensibility) was awesome too, so check it out as well! 😀

Hug Me – Crush: I was glad to have found this song because it is totally my cup of tea! 🙂 I didn’t mention this song in a Talking about (because I was trying to get caught up first :P), but I really do love it and I can’t help but sing along to it. 😀 If you enjoyed this song, you should also check out the album (I thought it was awesome!)!

Your Scent – Jung In & Gary: Jung In has such a unique voice and Gary’s rapping is great (not to mention that he’s also hilarious :P); the two combined make a very pretty yet catchy song that I really enjoyed this month!

A Midsummer Night’s Sweetness – San E & Raina: Loving this sweet song! 🙂 I don’t really know too many San E songs to be honest, but I’m happy to have found this one! 🙂

Black – 40: Another artist I’ve never heard of (and I don’t really know if this classifies in K-pop but you guys understand anyways right :D) yet another impressive song! Their voices are so soothing and smooth. :3

Take Out – Untouchable: Catchy song with an awesome chorus! I love the groove of the song. 😀 (Does that sound weird? I don’t know why, but that expressions seems awkward… hehe but it’s true!) Untouchable’s rap is great, of course. 🙂

Walk Backward – 2BIC: 2BIC’s voice never fails to amaze me, and this was one of the big reasons why I really liked this song 😀 The song is so so so (do you guys get the emphasis) beautiful – definitely give it a listen!

A – GOT7: How could I not include this incredibly catchy and adorable song! 😀 Yes, A totally deserves a spot on this month’s list for me. 🙂

Good Luck – Beast: Beast’s awesome comeback was a long-awaited one, and a certainly impressive one that I really enjoyed! The fact that it’s really addicting adds to the charm of the song as well. 😉

Day 1 – K. Will: This sweet song had just the right amount of adorableness and catchiness, mixed in with K. Will’s amazing voice. :3 You can read how much I enjoyed it in my Talking about post!

That wraps up this post! I apologize for this post being a little bit late (This type of post, and by that I mean Songs of the Month, takes me longer than Talking about posts, which I take forever to write anyways :3) but I hope you enjoyed it nonetheless! 🙂 I would appreciate it if you guys would comment any songs you think were highlights of this month! I’m excited for the songs to be released in July (because from what I’ve seen, many awesome releases are planned to happen then) yet I’m impressed with all the amazing music from June. 😀

Hugs from your fellow K-Popper ❤

Talking about Good Luck – Beast

Hi all! 🙂

Welcome back to It’s Time to K-Pop! ❤ Today I will be talking about Good Luck by Beast! I’ve already talked about No More, their other music video release, so go check that out as well if you’re feeling bored. :3 Because I’ve already ‘introduced’ them (so to speak) a few days ago, I won’t be doing that in this post (I wouldn’t want it to be repetitive :P) so let’s get to the release!

Song: This song is so awesome! 😀 It’s different than their other songs, or at least I get that impression, but by no means in a bad way. It’s so catchy and addicting that I found myself wanting to replay it over and over again :P. Although I love the whole song in general, my favorite part is before the chorus (more specifically from 1:35 to around 1:53) – daaaamn, sounds so good! I also really like the incorporation of the strings, and the instrumentation in general of this song. The best line in the whole song has to be “Up and down, feels like an elevator”, haha but jokes aside, Beast definitely doesn’t disappoint with this, and you best believe I’ll be putting this song on repeat for a long time. I’m going to have to control myself from repeatedly singing this song from now on 😛

Music Video: The music video looks great! I’m loving the strings introduction (makes the video seem more serious and intense :o) but I’d have to say that the highlight of the music video for me was definitely the choreography! I read in an article that the members thought this was their hardest dance routine yet, and I can definitely see that because it looks so cool (not that their other moves weren’t of course ;))! It’s definitely very well coordinated, and so awesome in combination with the song. There’s something so enticing about their moves, but I can’t pinpoint what it is. 😛 You can see it more clearly in this live performance of Good Luck (which is pretty impressive…. might I add :P). Am I the only one that thinks a dance version music video would be amazing?! Putting the dancing aside though, the video had awesome sets and lighting, and the production overall was so well done. The video was very fitting to the vibe of the song, which is something I always appreciate. I also really liked the editing of the video, and the rather gloomy, solemn look it (mostly) had. 🙂

Overall, I really like Beast’s comeback! 😀 The song and video both are great, and definitely show off a sophistication or allure (in a way) that is very particular to this group. I was once a huge fan of them (not saying that I’m not a fan now, but rather, toned down in intensity 😉 ) and this song definitely brings out the great qualities of the group. What did you think about this release? I’d love to know!

K-Pop Findings: Top 5 Dances

Hi guys! 😀

Welcome back to my blog after less frequent posting! :3 I do apologize for that, but I’ll make up for it with this one! I’ve been having trouble thinking of what types of things to talk about, and I didn’t wan’t to have a list on songs, because I’m already thinking of doing a Top Favorite K-Pop Songs list soon (so look forward to that! :D). That is why I’ve decided to talk about something a little different, so here it is! This post is my Top 5 Dances from K-Pop! 🙂

A little disclaimer before we start! I am, by no means, a professional dancer of any sort, and I am not claiming to be one! These are just some of the dances I personally think are unique, creative, or just a lot of fun! I’m pretty sure I’ll forget some (What can I say? I have the memory of a goldfish :3), but I’ll make more as I remember them if you guys like this first one! With that out of the way, let’s get started!

Sherlock – SHINee: The first time I saw the music video, I was in love. :3 SHINee has awesome dance routines for almost all of their releases, but I’ve chosen this one to include here. It’s so well coordinated and so so so creative! It’s so much fun to watch! I was very much impressed with this song, and the dance, on top of that, just made the performance much more captivating, not to mention that it’s really well synched and appropriate to the song. This dance version of their music video shows how great the dance is, so do check it out if you have not already.

Growl – Exo: This might be another obvious choice after Sherlock, but I think it deserves this spot! 🙂 Not only is this dance routine awesome, but I love the dance exchange between the two different “units”, and by this I mean Exo-M and Exo-K, during the dance. I think the fact that there are so many members in Exo makes it so that the routine looks even more complete and enticing. It’s a powerful dance and they make it look so coordinated, despite what I’ve mentioned before about them having so many members. I really like this dance practice video (pretty awesome because of the movement of the camera along with the routine, I think) so it’s definitely worth a watch.

Fiction – Beast: Although I really want to talk about this awesome song, that is for another day since we’ll be talking about the awesome choreography today. The choreography practice video I linked to  actually includes their routine for their song The Fact too, but Fiction comes a little bit after (starting at around 2:18). 🙂 What I love about this choreography is the feet shuffling thing (so eloquent right :P) that comes at the chorus part of the song. I love it every time I see it haha 😛 But overall, the dance is awesome! Obviously, there might be many other songs that have more “complicated” or intricate choreography, but it’s one that stands out in my memory! I remember I was so obsessed with it when it came out. :3 I can’t believe it’s already been 3 years! :O But anyways, the video is pretty cool too, so check it out, especially because they teach you how to do the step thing I was talking about at the end haha!

Nobody – Wonder Girls: Wow, the memories come up even just by hearing the title of this song. I said that Fiction was old, but Nobody is from 2008! :O Well, I was considering whether or not to put this song, or Tell Me, but Nobody takes this spot for today! 🙂 Now, this is probably one of the more unexpected choices, but hear me out, because I do have a reason for this! This song, and dance, was so popular when it was released and I definitely understand why. I personally really like this dance! It’s so simple, yet so addicting and I can’t help wanting to copy it! Of course, I do agree that it probably isn’t the most detailed, sophisticated dance, but just the sheer simplicity yet catchiness of the dance are enough to make it one of my top choices. The music video is hilarious and a lot of fun, too! 😛 Seriously though, kudos to you JYP! Straight up nostalgia from this song and dance, you guys. :3

1004 – B.A.P: Again, I had a little bit of hesitation when deciding which B.A.P dance I wanted to talk about (since they have so many awesome ones), but I chose 1004 their most recent release! The reason for this choice is because of the super cool solo dances (what, is this even a thing?) by Jongup and Zelo, but all the other dances parts of the dance were awesome, especially the one from the chorus! There are lots of cool moments in the choreography and it makes out to be an overall very impressive performance. Check it out if you haven’t already, and I hope you’re as impressed with this dance as I am.

So, here’s my Top 5 Dances (that I can think of right now)! I obviously have many others that I think are amazing, so if you liked this post, please let me know and I’ll do another one! Who else do you think should’ve been included in this post? Let me know! 🙂 Also, please keep in mind that this is my opinion only, and I wasn’t looking only at how complex or sophisticated the dance was, but also how great of a performance it was to me. I hope you all have a great week, and sorry for the lack of posts! 😦 It’s a bit of a difficult time to be posting as usual, so I hope you understand! Thanks so much for reading and checking out my blog! 🙂 Don’t be shy to comment!

Hugs from your fellow K-Popper! ❤
